The Role
The Director of Operations is responsible for leading Nécessaire’s logistics, warehousing, and fulfillment operations across Amazon, DTC, and wholesale channels. This role owns the physical flow of goods and DC-level inventory flow and positioning, ensuring product is effectively received, stored, and deployed to support order fulfillment and service performance.
Reporting to the VP of Supply Chain, this role translates growth objectives into disciplined, data-driven operational systems, evolving the logistics network, fulfillment architecture, and warehouse strategy to balance cost, speed, and flexibility as the business grows. You will lead and develop the Operations team, establish clear accountability, and lead day-to-day execution across logistics, warehousing, and fulfillment, with a focus on cost, DC inventory health, and service performance.
The Director of Operations is a key partner to Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Finance, and Commercial leadership, ensuring operational execution and inventory movements align with demand and supply plans. This role plays a critical part in working capital efficiency, service level performance, and margin discipline, while leading initiatives such as Amazon operations (including AWD), network optimization, technology enablement, and channel or market expansion.
This role reports to the VP, Supply Chain and is based in the Los Angeles area.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
● Own and evolve Nécessaire’s global operations strategy across logistics, freight, warehousing, and fulfillment.
● Design and optimize the logistics and fulfillment network to support growth, resilience, and cost efficiency across channels.
● Provide executive oversight of Amazon, DTC, and retail operations, ensuring alignment between inventory planning, inbound logistics, and fulfillment performance.
● Lead strategic vendor and 3PL partnerships, including network design, contract negotiation, and performance governance.
● Define inventory strategy and controls to support demand, minimize risk, and protect working capital.
● Partner with Finance on budgeting, cost structure, margin improvement, and cash efficiency.
● Guide technology strategy across ERP, WMS, and related systems to enable automation, data integrity, and real-time visibility.
● Establish and monitor KPIs that reflect operational health, service performance, and cost efficiency.
● Ensure compliance with global trade, customs, and channel-specific requirements, including Amazon standards.
● Set the strategic direction for Amazon operations, including inventory health, compliance, and programs such as AWD.
● Anticipate operational risks and lead proactive mitigation planning across the supply chain.
● Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing Operations team with clear accountability and ownership.
● Lead operational strategy and execution within cross-functional initiatives, including system implementations, channel expansion, and new product or market launches.
QUALIFICATION
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; MBA or advanced degree a plus.
● 8+ years of experience leading operations, supply chain, or logistics within CPG, beauty, or eCommerce.
● Proven experience managing complex, multi-channel operations (Amazon, DTC, Retail).
● Strong strategic, financial, and analytical acumen with experience owning operating models and performance metrics.
● Deep familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), Amazon SellerCentral, and 3PL ecosystems.
● Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead through ambiguity.
● Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
● Experience scaling operations in a high-growth consumer brand.
● Familiarity with international sourcing, global freight, and import/export compliance.
● Experience leading Amazon channel, inventory optimization, or network design initiatives.
● Background in process design, automation, or large-scale operational transformation.
