About this role
pov beauty is looking for a highly analytical, structured, and business-minded Vice President of Finance to own the finance function as we scale – both strategic finance and controllership. Reporting directly to the CEO, You will partner directly with cross-functional leaders to build forecasting rigor, improve financial visibility, and support strategic decision-making across growth, marketing, operations, inventory, and retail expansion.
This role is highly hands-on and builds from “zero to one.” You will be responsible for creating the models, reporting cadence, and financial infrastructure that will scale with the business. We are looking for someone who brings elite technical finance skills alongside the ability to translate data into clear, actionable business insights.
FP&A & Strategic Planning
- Build, maintain, and scale integrated 3-statement financial models across revenue, marketing, inventory, and operations.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting and forecasting, reinforcing financial discipline company-wide.
- Deliver monthly variance analysis and board- and investor-ready reporting that turns results into clear, strategic insight.
- Own cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital management for our fast-moving inventory model.
- Build KPI frameworks and automated dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into the business.
Controllership, Accounting & Audit Readiness
- Own the accounting function and financial close process.
- Lead preparation for the company’s first financial statement audit in 2027, including GAAP-compliant policies and controls, external auditor selection, and alignment between actuals and forecasts.
- Evaluate and stand up the systems and infrastructure (ERP, close process, controls) needed to support an audited, scaling business.
- Oversee tax compliance, treasury, and other core accounting and finance operations as the company grows.
Business Partnering & Strategy
- Partner with Marketing, Ops, and E-commerce to evaluate growth performance and investment ROI (CAC/LTV, ad spend efficiency).
- Own pricing, gross margin, and channel profitability across current e-commerce and future retail expansion.
- Build agile scenario models to stress-test strategic decisions, inventory buys, and product launch timelines.
- Hire, manage, and develop finance and accounting talent as the team grows.
What Success Looks Like (12-18 months)
- Forecasts are accurate, actionable, and drive decisions
- Performance gaps are identified early and addressed with clear action plans
- Business drivers for all channels are well understood and actively managed
- SG&A and Cash Management reflect clear priorities and return thresholds
- Leadership teams are aligned on what matters most and what needs to change
- Finance is a driver of performance and accountability, not a reporting function
- The company operates with PE-grade rigor and is positioned for future strategic options
Requirements
Must-have
- 8+ years of finance leadership experience in high-growth operating businesses — ideally consumer, CPG, or DTC — with direct ownership of FP&A and accounting/controllership.
- Elite financial modeling skills with advanced Excel / Google Sheets proficiency; experience building operating models from scratch in fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated ownership of both FP&A and accounting/controllership, directly or through managing outsourced partners.
- High ownership mindset, data-driven curiosity, and comfort in a fast-moving, ambiguous, “zero-to-one” environment.
- Ability to zoom into the details and zoom out to translate complex financial concepts for creative and operational leaders.
- Direct, candid communicator who leads with the facts and conclusions, not the methodology, and not afraid to take a contrarian stance.
Preferred
- CPA or equivalent accounting credential.
- Ex-investment banking analyst background.
- Experience in beauty, consumer goods (CPG), e-commerce, or retail.
- Actively uses AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) to build workflows, automations, and models that increase speed and output quality.
Benefits
- $225,000–$275,000 base salary, plus annual bonus and equity
- 20 Days of PTO + 9 Holidays + 5 sick days
- 100% of Medical, Dental & Vision paid for Employees
- Generous Parental Leave
- Discounts on pov beauty products
